ZINGED!

Pope: Other Christians Not True Churches [ AP via My Way ]

LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.

Benedict approved a document from his old offices at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that restates church teaching on relations with other Christians. It was the second time in a week the pope has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, the 1962-65 meetings that modernized the church.

...

Despite the harsh tone of the document, it stresses that Benedict remains committed to ecumenical dialogue.

...

Yup he's still Catholic.

The lack of a rational explanation is not evidence for an irrational explanation.

No Catholic has ever been able to show me where in the Bible these teachings come from. Just some more destructive teaching that leads to a seperation of the Lords church. I am sure some protestant christian will say someting equally judgemental about Catholics.

Well, if each church didn't think they were right and everyone else was wrong, why would they have started a new church?

Well I never did give ol' Benny a lot of credit for smarts.

It looks to me like he's isolating the Church even more, and thinks he can get away with it because Catholics make up the largest Christian sect. Thus, he can slip it all back toward the Middle Ages (Mass in Latin, and so forth) with impunity and in the process, give himself a little more power. Yeh, I know, I've got a nasty, suspicious, atheistic mind.

The former name for Benedict's "old offices" is "The Roman Inquisition," the very same "offices" that tried Galileo Galilei. I kid you not.
