That is a differnt topic. This mom could send her daughter to a religion based school, I suppose. Depends on her means. But to suggest that government not be involved in the schools only means the rich kids get an education and the poor kids get nothing. Or the nearest thing to nothing. It leads us back to the voucher issue, which I, for one, am sick of.

Well, not true. If the taxes collected to run the government school system was left in the hands of the citizens than people would have plenty of money to pay for school. In fact without the monopoly structure that we currently have the cost of education would decline rapidly and the quality would increase rapidly.

I dont see that. I think this is a differnet subject but I would like to see what you are baseing your opinion on. And since it is the government that decides what part of our taxes go to education, you would have no control over how much you would get. History shows us that the government tends to allocate less money into programs where they dont have a say in how it is spent, so a private control over tax money for education would most likely suffer in the mix. I think this part should be discussed on a differnt thread.

As for mom here, her daughter would have been suspended if she wore a Pink Floyd concert shirt, or a "go climb a rock" shirt from Yosemite. She broke the rules of the school. Mom is trying to bust the systems hump. And she is using her daughter to do it...so once again..shame on her.

I began a thread here if you would like a discussion on this point. I hope you do as you seem to have conviction in your thoughts and reason in you mind. This will make for an enjoyable talk.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

Not that it's important, but I wonder whether the girl or her mom would wear a T-shirt (this, or any other) to church. Is there a dress code there, & do they care?

Even less important, but interesting to note: the kid & the mom have different last names. There could be several explanations, with divorce & remarriage probably being the most likely...oh, but that's also the one which their #1 guy Jesus so clearly called a sin.

Go figure.
