The family tree of Caecilians, salamanders, frogs and toads is being completely revised, in what "represents the largest analysis of its kind of any group of vertebrate animals," according to a brief LiveScience article. This must be a huge undertaking. (Hell, I must admit I hadn't even known Caecilians existed, except for those Mafia guys!)
The new taxonomy names 33 new groups and 2 new families, and includes dozens of new groupings among amphibians.
Here's the broad view of the proposed new taxonomy:

I've shrunk this one to better fit our page format.

For those who like detail (Filthy), the huge, more detailed taxonomy is here:

This one I've enlarged, then sharpened, to allow the text to be read more easily.

Thanks 'mooner! I knew this study was going on but haven't had an update in quite a while. I'll have to make a couple of calls.

It's actually long overdue. Since DNA testing became common, most of the attention over the years has been devoted to reptiles.

You're most welcome, Fil. Now, I expect your article soon, about how and where they have blundered.

Heh, these guys are the big guns. Unlike my mistakes, theirs are important, so they don't make very many. But I would surely love to catch them in one.
