11000yo painting, "looks modernist" is geometrical in design, appears in a communal adobe...

11,000 years old? Isn't that just about, let's see, 5,000 years older than is Biblically possible? You'd think the scientists faking this would have the decency paint it in an older art style. But they don't. They are so arrogant as to say, "It looks like a modernist painting. Some of those who saw it have likened it to work by (Paul) Klee."

They may as well say, "Suck it, God!"

This is a marvelous find. As to it's purpose, why could it not be simple decoration. These people were, after all, essentially us and we all like pretty.

In this context, I think that's a pretty funny typo.

My apologies to Halfmooner for horrible image work.

John's just this guy, you know.

Hehehe! More, John! My own stuff rarely amuses me, because I usually know what I'm going to do. Usually.

It's not a typo:
Adobe... 2. A structure built with this type of brick.
Well, the best references I can find put the earliest use of adobe at about 9,000 years ago, so the article's 11,000-year figure is strange. But it clearly says,
Rectangles dominate the ancient painting, which formed part of an adobe circular wall of a large house with a wooden roof.
So either they've dated it wrong, or there's a different typo (which might not be surprising, since the photo caption implies that 11,000 years would be in the 11th century, BC).
