Read or listen to this Marketplace commentary:
53 percent of Americans said their vote wasn't for sale, they wouldn't give it up for anything, not even a vaccine for cancer. Everyone else, however, had a price.
Would you sell out, and what would it take?

I have a price. I would not let my wife or kids die of cancer just for the right to vote like these 53% surveyed.

Also, in the last presidential election wasn't the percentage of voter age people that voted around 51%. In a city or state election voter turnout is around 10%. Why not at least sell your vote for $20 if you are not going to vote at all. I really doubt 53% of the population does not have a price.

Depends. How much and from whom? I might take the bribe, then vote against the slimey bastard, and serves him right.

That, and because the system here guarantees a two party system where both parties are close to each other.

That being said, it appears our vote is only thing keep a full blown theocracy from being established, so at this time I would not trade my vote away for money. A cure for cancer, that's another thing.

Once the theocracy is fully established, they can have my vote, because my ass will be out of here.

I'd give up my right to vote for the power to put whomever I want into office.
