Not a lot of comment from me on this. Just an interesting item about a newly discovered croc ancestor.

"Missing links" just keep turning up.

Looking forward to some possible "filthy" comments.

De Crocagator say to de Snafe, "Snafe, I'se feelin' jest a mite peckish dis afternoon an' I think I'se gonna have you for a one-string snack!" De Snafe say to de Crocagator, "Oh please don't eat me Mr. Crocagator, I ain't got scarcly nothin' fer meat on my frame. But lissen, I know where they's a party I'se goin' to wid all kinda food an' likker, an' a little smoke, an' all kinda lady Snafes an' Crocagators! You kin eat an' get tight an' right, an' get yer cinders shuffled all night long. All you got to do is carry me cross't dis river an' I'll show you where it's at, 'cause dat's where I'se goin' now, jes' like I is said."

And so, de Crocagator thought about it an' all, an' den taken de Snafe on to his back and carried him cross't de river. When dey got to de other side, de Snafe jumped off'n de Crocagator's back an' run off into de woods. "Hey, wait a minute Mr. Snafe," shouted de Crocagator, "where at is dis party wid all de food an' booze, an' all de willin' wimmins? I don' see nothin' but mo' swamp!"

An' de Snafe shout back over his shoulder as he slid into de puckerbrush: "Dat's Africa, baby!"

Good find, Chip! I love Crocagators as well as Snafes!

Edit: I wouldn't normally do this, but more of the story keeps popping into my head, unbidden. I'm considering loading it into a Word document and having a try at re-writing it.

Thanks. In my mind I hear a slack key guitar and old blues man's voice singing out that tale!

And that's exactly where I got it; from a blind street singer in Norfolk VA. That was around 1960 and I don't recall it very well, so much of it is my paraphrase. It was also a lot longer, the Snafe talking the Crocagator, quite eloquently, out of his lunch. I wish I could remember it all.

Glad you enjoyed it!

This is actually a very interesting animal in that it most uncroc-like. Until you see the skull. That's crocodilian, no doubt about it. It's a little different from modern crocs, but even the dental arraignment is basically the same. Man, evolution is a gas!

The main question I have: is the specimen an adult?

Now let's see what Ken & Bill have to say about it...
