Ok, maybe it's not such a small scuffle after all. Check out the thread.
Someone on the Culture Wars site has the right idea:

Hmm. I might have to take back some of the harsh words I said about DaveScot. There seems to be hope for him yet.

DaveScot has deserved harsh words, and neither would I be hasty to withdraw previous things said (or, in my case, drawn) about him. But this is indeed a remarkable turnaround.
Dr. Dr. Bill Dembski must be horrified and confused to suddenly see this apparent voice of secular reason running his blog. (Dembski must be receiving all sorts of panicked advice from the wingnuts in and around the Disco Inst.)
It's as if Torquemada suddenly became hell-bent upon bringing down the Borgia Pope, Alexander VI.
Of course, it has always seemed strange to me to see DaveScot described as "a convinced agnostic" in his UD profile. It all goes to show that people are more complex than we can imagine, and are even more unpredictable. Fascinating.

I would like to see how this plays out. What I get is that Dave Scott really does view ID as science and Expelled as nothing more than a tipping of the hand by those who promote another agenda. (On the other hand, he must know about the wedge document. That should have pissed him off too.)
On the issue of ID as science, I doubt that Scott will ever seem like a man of reason to us. And I don't understand how he missed the religious/christian issue underlying everything that UD stands for. Why didn't he speak up earlier?

Well, yes, on that thread. But that isn't what I meant. Scott seems to be increasingly annoyed with the Christian version of ID. And that should ruffle some feathers over at the Discovery Institute. |
