The Coral Ridge Ministries, a Flordia-based (where else?) hive of holy-rollers (as in "Rolling you like a drunken sailor and making you like it") led by one Dr. D. James Kennedy is running a survey concerning everybody's spiritual health. The results are interesting in that the real threat to spiritual health is Coral Ridge Ministries & Dr. D. James Kennedy, and others of the ilk. Here's a piece of the current results:

"Results of Coral Ridge Ministries'

2008 Annual Spiritual State of the Nation Survey*

America's Spiritual Health

1. Are you concerned that our country on a whole is abandoning biblical values?

[89] Yes [1] No [10] Undecided

2. How dangerous are the following to the spiritual health of America?

Very Somewhat Not very

The ACLU and similar groups 96 3 1

Pro-homosexual indoctrination 95 4 1

Abortion 93 6 1

Islamic terrorism 91 8 1

Hollywood 89 10 1

News Media 87 12 1

Darwinism/evolution 85 14 1

Cults and false religion 82 16 2

Atheism 82 16 2

Courts 81 18 1

Apathetic/uninformed Christians 79 20 1

Colleges and Universities 78 21 1

Public education (K-12) 69 29 2

Congress 63 35 2

3. Is it too late for a spiritual revival in this nation?

[1] Yes [90] No [9] Undecided

4. If “no,” how influential are the following institutions to lead such a revival?"

& so forth. I found this cannonball at PZ's Place, where he expresses a great disappointment that Atheists are ranked at #9 on the list. I agree; we should be at the top or at least somewhere near the top 'cause we enjoy a spiritual health uninfected by the likes of soul-sucking ministries such as the one featured here. That could spread amongst the intellectual community and others with the ability to read & comprehend, and we just can't have that, now can we?

But, if we can't be at the top, we can at least be among those who are. Become a card-carrying member of the ACLU and piss Kennedy & his drooling dreamers of a utopian, pre-Renaissance society off even further.

D. James Kennedy is dead, but Coral Ridge is still about as fundamentalist as a non-denominational church can get. I'm not sure who's running the asylum now that the big cheese is kaput.

"If they don't like it, they can get out."

Man it's fun to be like them.

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini
