I'm talking about a depth of delusion that is just as frightening to me as that of the neocons. Hillary doesn't appear much different in her Iraq position than McCain, sure, they word it up a bit different... but the substance seems the same.
Oooo, damn, that sounds uncomfortably similar to what Greens were saying when comparing Gore and Bush in 2000, about a whole bunch of issues. I convinced me to vote for Nader, which has much the same effect as sitting out the vote if the other main option is voting for a Democrat. My dad often says he wished these elections were based on parties, not on personalities.

Gore, in 2000, was an unsuitable candidate. I voted for him anyway, but I didn't realy enjoy it.

Simple solution: Just ask yourself which candidate would be best for the country as a whole however repugnant he/she might be on a personal level, then

It is the Achilles Heel of democracy, that elections are as much metaphoric beauty contests as anything else, and if the last twelve years haven't taught us that, we'll never learn it. I also think that even if we do learn it, it will make no difference because we are idiots ever attracted to anything shiny.

Of course, some metaphoric beauty contests are much prettier than others and make you want to participate in favor of your candidate right down to the last, bloody death-rattle.
