For a wonderful satire of Jack Chick, see Who Will Be Eaten First?

Have you accepted Cthulhu as your personal lord and devourer?

How long before the fundies find this and claim it proves there's a resurgence of demon worship?

Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fnord!

I was hospitalized for a week back in 1985. Spent the time reading In the Mountains of Madness. One of my "roommates" during the week had a couple of kids my age (at the time), who came over to my bed to "talk" to me one night. They saw what I was reading, and without hesitation or hint of jocularity, asked, "oh, do you worship Satan?" After chatting with them for a few minutes, they asked me if I wanted to come pray with them and their family around the other bed. I politely declined.

There's a movie by John Carpener called "In the mouth of madness" http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0113409/ starring Sam Neill which have a distict Cthulu-feeling.
I recommend it!

Yeah, there are Lovecraft references in the film itself, too. Little doubt that Carpenter and/or De Luca were reading Lovecraft at the time. The IMDB User Comments seem split on whether or not it is a "good" Lovecraft-style movie, however. I think the movie got the important parts right, even if the "atmosphere" isn't quite as doom-and-gloom as some Lovecraft fans would enjoy. It feels like Lovecraft updated for the 1990's.

Oh, I was wrong about the book's name. It's At the Mountains of Madness and Other Novels. I'm sure I got it confused with In the Mouth of Madness.
