"On Independence Day, we're reminded how fortunate we (who are prone to authoritarianism like our terrorists enemies) are to live in freedom and call this nation home," Cheney told more than 100,000 at the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International speedway.

"We are grateful above all to the men and women (with few means to make themselves a better life) who defend us," he said to whoops and cheers.

The vice-president concluded his remarks to the throng by suggesting that the media go f--k themselves, unless of course, they're publishing or broadcasting "news" about such events as this or other important items such as the Star Jones/Barbara Walters row.

(Parenthetically) yours, Orwellingly Yurz

--Bob Dylan

In response to Halfmooner: thanks for the welcome. On surfing around this extensive and impressive blog, I find you're ubiquitous. At the risk of being too personal too soon: does your name imply you make residence near Half Moon Bay...or how many cheeks you expose when pushing them flush against the car window? I just have to ask.

I live in Half Moon Bay, California. I just went blank when I needed to come up with a nick back in January, and now am stuck with it. I would not wish to impose my 60-year-old ass upon the public.

Greetings Orwellingly Yurz, and welcome to SFN!

If you look at the above tool bar (B, I, U, and so forth}, you will see a set of large quotation marks. If you click on it and paste your quotation in the bracketed "quotes" that will appear in your text, it will take the fumble out of it.

Cheney is swine.....

I was watching the Firecracker 400 (I refuse to call it my it's more commercialized name) and they actually were talking to the blowhard split screen with the racing. Then the wreck happened. Of course, they didn't cut away from the shithead to actually focus on the wreck happening. There were some cars doing lazy loops in the infield grass and a ton of smoke, and they were talking about his physical coming back ok.

What a crock.

Welcome to the skeptical carnaval Orwellingly Yurz, please select your favorite color balloon and have fun.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.
