See the excellent summary over at Stranger Fruit.

To summarize from the piece: "No one cares."

It seems DI's greatest progress this year was figuring out novel ways of making Dover appear to be a victory. (Next: "Mission Accomplished"?) Actually, Dover was a victory, just not for the DI Creationists. Runner up was their clever ability to blame their lack of research on "Darwinist fascists."

Other progress: Dembski's growing arsenal of Yiddish insults: "Putz," "schlemiel", etc. Now, that's very multicultural of him.

Just as a tree that has been "rimmed" (i.e., had its bark completely cut through on all sides) is effectively dead even if it retains its leaves and appears alive, so Darwinism has met its match with the movement initiated by Phillip Johnson. Expect Darwinism's death throes, like Judge Jones's decision, to continue for some time. But don't mistake death throes for true vitality. Ironically, Judge Jones's decision is likely to prove a blessing for the intelligent design movement, spurring its proponents to greater heights and thereby fostering its intellectual vitality and ultimate success.

They must be masochists at DI.

ID has kind of been like a mosquito bite. Doesn't do much, but sure bugs the hell out of ya.

Excellent article indeed. Perhaps better next year they'll have better luck. An interesting project would be to see how much money is put into ID.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Ricky, the DI claims to have spent over four million on ID-related "research" over the last 15 years, but has absolutely nothing to show for it. And Ahmanson and others pump millions into the DI on an annual basis, at least an order of magnitude more than the National Center for Science Education gets.

Actually, since the Discovery Institute is far more than just the Center for Science and Culture, one wonders how much money that's earmarked for non-ID-related projects gets misappropriated for ID crap. I also wonder when the DI is going to give up on all those other things. Of the four upcoming events on their homepage, only one is not ID-related.

Speaking of which, I notice that the local Borders where I live in upstate New York doesn't quite buy the ID-as-science bit, either:

All right, Borders! Someone there has some sense. Or else a customer straightened things out.

I thought about that-- someone picking up the ID book from where ever it was normally (humor?) and then placing it in the religion section as a joke or minor form of protest. I should have asked the help desk for which section it was supposed to be in and see what they said. Oh well. Either way, when I saw it I thought of SFN (where I've been away far too long), got a quick shot with the camera phone, and ran home to post!

The John Templeton Fooundation had a bunch of money available for ID research, but they never had any takers. I assume no one ever came up with a proposal resembling science.

Now, Dembski's saying that his "Vise strategy was never implemented.

Now, this calls for the "Pot, Kettle, Black" award!

They say ID is dead yet they just can't stop talking about it on Panda's Thumb. I counted 21 mentions of “ID” and “Intelligent Design” on just the home page without expansion of any articles or comments.

If they believe ID is dead that means the thumbsters are necrophiliacs. Gross. I'll add that to their growing list of character flaws; The Church Burnin' Necrophiliac Ebola Boys. But hey, I just kid those fine folks. I understand that as chance worshippers they're in the business of not letting go of dead ideas.

Hey Wesley! Can you spell non sequitur? I knew you could.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.
