Parthenogenisis (Virgin Birth) has been observed in Komodo Dragons (Monitor Lizards) in zoos. They lay fertile viable eggs. Genetic testing has shown that the offspring have received all their genes from the mother. Interstingly all the offspring are male since in lizards it is the female who deterimines gender of the offspring. Males have 2 male chromosomes and females have one of each.
