Wow, I kinda figured it might end up that way, but it happened more quickly than I'd aniticipated.

I hope my own slowness to respond to didn't cause too much grief to anyone. I'm not sure why Pachomius felt the need to wait specifically for my replies. I really don't think I said anything that others hadn't already, often several times. I suspect he got caught up on my use of the word "agreement", believing that I agreed with far more than I actually did, even though it seems that everyone else knew what I meant.

I wonder if he's still reading this? Do you have any feel, Dave (or any other mods who would like to chip in) for the number of people who receive temporary bannings who actually do return later? Of those, do (m)any continue to contribute in a worthwhile fashion?

John's just this guy, you know.

Out of the five people we've banned who were regular posters (minus Pachomius, and the other bannings we've had have been for registering in order to spam), only one hasn't violated the terms for being reinstated, and he hasn't bothered to ask for reinstatement in the 14 months or so since his banning. The other four either registered again under new names, or sent nasty bridge-burning emails before the 30-day period was over. So the sample size here of people who've been banned but returned and were good contributors is zero.

Edited to add: because the sample size of people who've been banned but were reinstated is also zero.

And nothing you did, John, caused any hassles for the staff here.

I think critical comments about karma and reincarnation are indeed essential in order to clear the deck fully against all religious nonsense, even if not dangerous, even errant forms, because we should advance the provisional truth[not Truth].Most fundamentalists are not dangerous, but we deny the validity of their views.Skeptics inveigh against horoscopes and such as Sylvia Browne. Why let the Dalai Lama off ? Go after the supernatural and the paranormal. I have schizotypy but unlike the others ,I abjure those two fields.

Fr. Griggs rests in his Socratic ignorance and humble naturalism. Logic is the bane of theists.Religion is mythinformation. Reason saves, not a dead Galilean fanatic.
