YO! Except for this one:

The abundant and lengthy string of nuanced slurs at Obama to strongly suggest she's a racist.(Black population of Alaska is less than 5%)

She does remind me a lot of Anita Bryant, an Oklahoman who was runner up in a Miss America Pageant a long time ago who railed again homosexuality. I wonder how Sarah Palin feels about gays and lesbians. Probably the same way she feels about Charles Darwin and the way he thought about Nature. Oh yes, then there's global warming, Sarah.

I found her impressive, a much better speaker than McCain. A pity she's carrying so much baggage and is another fundamentalist loon. I think she is going to be a very effective campaigner who can lie, prevaricate & spin with the best of them.

I also wonder if she wasn't the choice all along and the non-vetting (publicly) was a clumsy attempt to conceal said baggage. That's a little far-out I know, but I put nothing past the Party of Nixon & Reagan & Bush.

I absolutely can not stand her voice.

Oh, and I think the fact that she is a staunch Abstinence Only supporter and now has a pregnant 17 year old is a wonderful demonstration of stupid policy. And letting (expecting? making? congratulating?) her daughter marry the highschool kid that knocked her up is a recipe for a bad marriage; not always, but the odds are against that relationship.

She certainly demonstrates bad judgement - perfect for a Republican Administration. As you know, they purposefully govern with incompetance to demonstrate their mantra that "government can't do anything right, so let's pour money into Haliburton, because if anybody's going to rip off the people of the United States, it should be the private sector."

She's a better public speaker than McCain.

But that's about as impressive as being the best HS girls basketball team in Alaska.

Oh wait-

She did a nice job of working the room, but it was a room begging to be worked. Pretty soon, she better have more than sarcasm and Rovian rhetoric.

She is a good speaker and that alone (unfortunately) could cause some problems.

She's a creationist.....and that is certainly all I needed to know.

It would be a mistake to underestimate her. She comes armed with a down homeyness that neither Obama or Biden have.
She will have a very strong blue collar appeal among independents and Republicans who are so sick of what Bush has done that they were considering voting for Obama. She has serous populist appeal.

What must happen is that her bullshit needs to be attacked point by point. (Of course, another embarrassing revelation about her would be nice.)

Indeed. And that is effective but, I think, limited. Ross Perot had great populist appeal. So did John Edwards. And Huckabee. If that's all she has, she won't be that much of an asset.

What must happen is that her bullshit needs to be attacked point by point. (Of course, another embarrassing revelation about her would be nice.)

Indeed, again. 'Course, the problem there is that much of her bullshit is also the root of her populist appeal. We 'mericans love us some faith-based politics.

She should be highly vulnerable on her "anti-earmark" nonsense. She was before the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. Etc.

What country are you living in?

Why the hell would anyone waste the time and effort to refute her bullshit point by point? Who do you think would bother listening?

Christ on a fucking stick Kil... Kerry's "voted for it before I voted against it" has a very very valid, reasonable, and sensible explanation. He voted for $60billion for war funding, but voted against it when Bush added an extra $20billion for unspecified use.

How fucking well did that work for Kerry? That dimwit couldn't even change his line to "I voted for funding the troops, I voted against $20billion taxpayer dollars for 'unspecified' use!" May not have saved him anyway.

What dems need to do is use the same rhetorical methods that have been used against them.

And fuck Obama if he won't, because he will lose this election. No, you don't have to go deep negative like Rove/Bush in the 2000 primary, or like the swiftboaters in 2004.... but you have to flip your opponent's words, straw-man the fuck out of them. Relentlessly.

Its the only thing the retarded US electorate can comprehend, and its the only thing that will sway the retards who really haven't decided who to vote for yet.

Scratch the above statement....I can find no support for it. It appears Sam Harris jumped the gun on that one....which is not good. She supports teaching both, which is almost as bad....almost. Supporting the teaching of creationism along with evolution is a different kind of ignorant than believing the earth is literally 6000 years old. Still it does not speak well of her ability to think critically. But that fact alone does very little to separate her from 90% of the other politicians on the planet.

Ouais, word-piece politic.

It is not as much as people are retard, it is just that it takes advantage of how the media work
They privilege short punchy sentences that can repeat ad nauseum over long complicated and boring analyses.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Poise, presence & articulation on the stage aside, she is strictly a lightweight in a heavyweight arena; a Pro-Stocker in Top Fuel. I still think she is a grievous mistake made intentionally to suck up to the Dobson clique.

At least a part of what could probably serve to sideline her is simply the fact that she has only slightly better qualifications to assume the mantle of President of the U&S than I have, which is none. That 3 am phone call thing writ panicky, eh?

Indeed, if "Jukebox" John is even half smart -- open to question, that -- he'll keep her close for neocon idiot/fundie eye-candy and her mouth shut on any topic more important than small-town governance, and hope that he'll last another four years. This last is also an iffy situation -- his health ain't all that great.

Republican ulcers are probably bleeding Amazon-volume rivers at the thought of the upcoming Palin/Biden debate, unless, of course, the moderator is on the fix.

This election is is gonna be the most fascinating event since, hell, I dunno; fill it in the blank as you like it______.

The "teach both" line is creationist code. Part of that whole ID thing to "teach the controversy, let the children decide!"

So it is safe to say she is a creationist.

I doubt it. With good prep, which she will undoubtably receive, and a few pithy remarks to deliver combined with her poise, and it won't matter how much Biden tries to pummel her. Issues will not matter if she gets a few zingers in. If she is still standing at the end, she, like Rocky Balboa, wins.

While the RNC was no surprise, it certainly is hideous. All the ridiculous posturing and promises, interjecting fear more than occasionally to let folks know how much we need them.

So the choice is now the degree of socialism and fascism we can expect and personally find most attractive between the two parties. Vote. Joy!

Consider if there were a law where any President that engages in war, just or not, will be publicly executed at the end their term in office. Would this effect the judgment to wage war with more care and consideration when it is ones own life in the balance?

I don't condone such a law, it is just a thought exercise to keep perspective. Imagine how such a law would have changed the tone of the RNC last night. As CSPAN runs the video again, just imagine.

No. If people had attention spans longer than six seconds, that tactic would not work. People tune out rapidly because they don't comprehend and/or are uninterested.

Far as I'm concerned that makes them stupid. Retarded, even.

The media just gives them what they want. If they wanted something else, that is what the media would deliver.

Collectively that renders the US electorate, imo, dangerously retarded.
