What ages are you talking about? Could Obama be popular amongst the older students because he seems to resonate more with younger voters? Perhaps the results in the mock election reflect this popularity?
Quite possibly. I feel young people are generally more liberal than not. They are real comfortable with spending other peoples money.

Okay, I left here at 9:30 and just got back. The wait in line was about an hour long. Unusual for here, but a good thing since they call this place "The Peoples Republic of Santa Monica".

Only problem for me was that my back started to hurt after about half an hour of mostly standing in place. But oh well...

I voted this morning. It took about 45 minutes - about 3 times as long as usual. No problemo.

I'm going to the bar to watch the results tonight with a bunch of other freethinkers/humanists.

Took about 15 minutes to get through the poll here. That counts the walk from my car to the building.

My precinct has changed over from the electronic machines to paper ballots and an optical scanner. Good stuff, imo.

I'm told that Joe Biden visited our polling place this morning in historic Henrico County, VA. Should be a big turnout for the Democrats in our district.

I saw people leaving this morning because of the long lines and the rain. I wonder how many will go back.

I heard rumors of computer problems in other precincts but everything seemed smooth at mine.

We voted (the wife and I) at 11:00am. Walked right in and voted....no wait. Same as always around here.

So spake the Rude Pundit:
Election Day: Nine Ways Republicans Will Try to Make Obama's Victory Illegitimate (You Don't Get to Read This Until You've Fucking Voted):
This time around, the machines were working at the Rude Pundit's precinct. The first thing he did after pushing the magical buttons was to call the Rude Brother and say, "I just voted for a black guy for president. How crazy is that?" It's not, of course, that it's a leap of beliefs for the Rude Pundit. It's having the opportunity. And, totally non-cynically, that was just goddamn cool. The fact that Obama's gonna win? Well, let's not blow our loads yet.

That's a meaningless generalization. History clearly shows that it's Republicans, of all ages, who delight in spending everyone else's money, then borrowing more.

Had about an hour's wait in line at the poll here in Studio City. I drove by two other nearby polling places on my way to work and they both had lines right out the wazoo. It looks like a pretty heavy turnout in my neighborhood. The poll workers will be lucky if they have time to call out for some pizza today.

This is a heavily Dem area, so I'm taking the high turnout as a good sign.

That's why I did not vote republican.

Yeah, never worrying about healthcare, infrastructure that actually is kept modern, a big push to renewable energy, taxes comparable to what we currently pay (don't believe the right-with lies about euro-taxes, I have lived in Germany for 6 years, they pay very close to what we do now).

Yeah, Europe is such a horrible place!

Not that its all peaches and cream over there, but its absurd to pretend that Europe is a horrible place.
