It seems that Liberty University is taking over where other frauds and failures have stumbled and fallen by the way. They are fielding an expedition to search for -- wait for it -- Noah's Ark! Really, no shit! Pastor Jerry would be so proud......
Excursion continues to find Noah’s Ark in Turkey

If Noah’s Ark has been sitting on a mountain somewhere in the Middle East for a few millennia, a few more months of waiting are a small price to pay, at least for Randall Price.

Price, who heads Liberty University’s Center For Judaic Studies, talked in January about his planned two-season expedition into Turkey, with the hopes of finding the Biblical artifact. He arrived in Turkey over the summer.

But Price said since then, he’s faced pressure from a political group in Turkey that is forcing him to keep his excursion very hush-hush.

“There’s not a lot (regarding Noah’s Ark) that I can say,” Price said, but he went on to give some basic details of what he plans to do next August, as the expedition finishes up.

This will be followed with great interest by all of the usual suspects including myself. Me, I hope he finds something and then has to submit it to radio-carbon dating for conformation of age. What a kick in the Creationist teeth that would be, after all these years of denying it works. It won't be the fabled Ark of course, but whaddahell? It'll be fun no matter what it is, and Mr. Price will have learned a valuable lesson: Let sleeping dogs lie and legends remain legends. Waking a sleeping dog can get you bitten and trying to prove the most unlikely legend in all Christendom can get you laughed through the fleet (we don't do flogging any more) as well as break the bank account that the sainted Falwell struggled so valiantly to con from his followers.

Found it here.

The only evidence that it even existed was the bible, and its not the best authority on anything structural, as evidenced by the threatening height of the so called tower of Bable. But searching for the ark does give explorers something to do, and it's harmless, so why not?

Apart from the cost and the time wasted, why not indeed? The ark yarn is surely the most difficult piece of the Bible for YECs to defend. They would give at least a testicle or both to find a bit of it, and date it, and shut infidel bastards like me up once and for all -- or so they think.

The tower of Babel is a fascinating story and it is thought thar it might have actually existed. Problem is that there were so many large ziggurats built in the location and it's surrounds, that nothing is certain. But then, very little in the Bible is.

Draining Falwell's bank account seems like a noble cause for a christian university if there ever was one...
