A coward, and I have the gall to not include other points of view in my arguments!

Yes, I'm still doing a bit of trolling at a friends video gaming forum.

Yeah, you're a "coward" for rejecting Noah's Ark. And for having the further effrontery not to provide arguments for the Ark. (Hey, the guy doesn't have any evidence, so all he's doing is asking for a little help! That's only fair. You should be flattered.)

What a wonderful non sequitur it is to call you a coward for being sanely skeptical. It's like being called a thief because of liking the Beatles.

This Ark business has the potential for immortality -- we'll never hear the end of it. It's been a while, though, since anyone's tried to defend it in here.

JediHunter needs to clean up his writing and break himself of the habit of bugging out when faced with debate. That's very poor form, and the "you are dismissed" is merely snotty and a sure sign of a lack of argument. It might be fun to pick out the logical fallacies in his postings and gently, heh, show him where he has been amiss. I saw some doozies in there. I especally liked the "goat" red herring.

Ha! This could be fun but maybe not if it just is about who started insulting who first. I might get into this if it can be productive. Just getting either side to examine and writing about their beliefs in a sincere way. Sincere as when questions are asked they are not just ignored but answered or addressed. It's a tough call, I don't need another excuse to spend more time on another forum. If there a benefit it might be worth it. However! I'm leaving today to sail a boat to Ft.Lauderdale, 1150 knots nonstop and will be out of touch for 9 days or so. Expecting to make 5/6 knots each 24 hours, that's 135 or less a day, giving weather conditions. All down wind, weeee!

Hay, we can do a test. If the boat goes down and I die, I'll try to get back to OFFC and let him know theists are right![wink] I'll send Thor an message and give him a four word comment. That way if I do contact OFFC and give Him the same code words. He'll be able to prove it with Thor. If I never post again, you'll all know why. Cheers. SS

Hey Thor.I don't know if you are aware of it, but filthy has written a fine essay on the problems with the Ark story:

Fundamentalists Hate Noah's Ark

It might due for you to check out some of our articles for your site.

Haha, the pi measurement is right because of modern engineering conventions!

Obviously, the person writing down the biblical passage wasn't a stickler for absolute correctness, but opted to choose a writing style suited to not bore his audience to death. Given the person I am, I probably would, but for most people just giving the sense of the proportions are enough.
So I really have no problem with that article, other than that they claim exactly those modern engineering/scientific conventions as an explanation for the discrepancy, rather than the obvious interpretation: The passage wasn't written to accomodate engineers, but uneducated people who thought Pi was someting you could eat.
