So even though christians have thousands of billboards and signs in your country the fact that a few atheists DARE to put up signs of their own is so intolerable to you that you cheer some anonymous, cowardly vandal that defaces it?

What happened to that superior morality that you people are supposed to have?

Try a thought experiment. How would you feel if a christian billboard was vandalised and the person responsible never stepped forward? Would that person be justified in being called a "hero"?

How does hiding after committing a crime qualify one to be a hero?

Your religion is the huge majority in your country. Do you really feel that persecuted that you have to rely on someone with a spray can to stand up for your god?

Is it because atheists have been "vandalising your beliefs" for so long? A belief, in case you didn't know, is intangible. How is it even possible to vandalise a belief? Disagreeing with it? Yet because of that, you feel that it's justified to vandalise actual physical objects? That's just stupid.

Care to elaborate a little more on the "abuse" that the Charlotte Atheists and Agnostics have done to you for them to deserve this?

There's an amusing pie chart that shows how people like you think:

(f+++ the link, the system keeps screwing it up here: in plain text in the email it works fine)

You surely know that the words "under god" were added in 1954, Why didn't your founding fathers have some kind of statement like that right off the bat (I know the original Pledge was composed in 1892) if they intended your country to be a "christian nation"?

It must have been a lot harder to convince people that the U.S. was a "christian nation" before 1954.

It must have been tough.

Well, you'll be pleased to note that beside your article in WingNut Daily, your comments are being spread even further:

That Whirled Nut Daily piece was despicable. Advocating criminal activity against those with whom she disagrees. Vandalism for Jeebus! (What color spray paint would Jeebus use?) I suppose that "what part of illegal don't you understand?" only applies to rounding up brown people and sending them all back where they belong.

It's tempting to tar the idiotic author with the "religion makes you stupid" brush, and for all I know she may well deserve it. But from reading her tripe, I get the feeling that she's an all around world class bitch, and in this case is using her religion for cover. She should have "asshole" painted on her forehead.

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.

It may be the exact opposite in this case: Stupidity making her religious.

Or it could be a vicious cycle of religion and stupidity reinforcing each other.

Myers has his opinion on this matter, too.

I dunno, I found the vandalism to be kind of funny... Maybe it's just me.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

It is, but it's the attitude of the so-called "moral" religious people like that bint above that piss me off.

For me, the attitude is the most high-larious part of it. It is exactly the sort of imbecilic smarm that all too many, mostly superficial dolts of many different persuasions, use in attempts to give themselves some miniscule status amongst their peers. Keep it going, Chrissy baby; I love ya!

And it's not only you that I love, sugar; I also love the Christian cretin who managed to scrape enough pocket change together to buy a blue spray bomb. Between the two of you, you have not put forward your cause; quite the contrary. You've set it back a pace and made yourselves into laughingstocks in the process.

Look, these sign wars, if wars they be, are just silly. Atheists don't bother to deface theist signs because it accomplishes nothing. Indeed, it would make the non-believer look as much the idjit as the moron with the spray bomb, but little else. Me, I can piss off theists with a lot less effort than that and not have to sneak around like a thief in the night, worrying about being officially busted for stupidity whilst I'm about it.

But do carry on, carry on. Keep your foolishness out there in public for all to see.
