Yes, but why? What specific ailments was it supposed to fix? If you can find evidence that soy has been known to prevent next-generational obesity or blondness, then you can say that modern medicine is proving the ancients "right." Otherwise, you're just engaging in the sharpshooter fallacy.

It is the same reason why we are asked to eat our vegetables. It is good for you. They did not understand the science behind it just recognized the results. Better health etc.

But you raise a good point....Managing Obesity could not have been associated with soy even to the chinese. Obesity was never a problem in China. Their balanced diet and shortage of food prevented that from happening.

Then modern medical science isn't proving them "right."

Not sure what you meant about proving them right. The story of soy as a cancer suppressant is well established. Did they make the connection between soy and cancer. I heard it from many Asians they did but more as a preventive measure.

Remember soy is not a cure but a methyl donor switch. Also note China is one of the earliest civilizations fully functional with civic organizations and science, mathematics, the compass, gun powder, medicine etc. when parts of Europe was still running around in animal skins hunting animals for food.

Did the ancient Asians consider it to be a "remedy" or "cure" (your words) for cancer? Support your answer with evidence, and not "I heard it."
Remember soy is not a cure...
Then the answer to the above question should be "no."

If soy was a cure for cancer we would well be ahead of the curb. But the study of soy as a methyl donor is significant. Especially when preventive medicine is now on the agenda in the US. to cut cost in long term care for advance medical conditions.
