Glenn Beck has announced plans to create a Libertarian utopia:
The community will be known as Independence, USA. If and when it is completed, Independence will produce its own food and TV and film content. There will be homes, baseball fields and a theme park. Think: Small Town, USA, but with a Beckish vibe.
A small town that's going to be as unbelievably kitschy Las Vegas:
The main entrance to the proposed community will be based on Ellis Island because, in Beck's words, that's how most Americans came to the country.
Does that mean he's letting in immigrants? Somehow I doubt it.
The main point, Beck says, is education. "Before you send your kids to college," Beck said in his pitch video, "you come to us. And you spend a week with us. We're gonna tell them exactly, we will show them the truth, we will tell them what they're going to try to do, and we will deprogram them every summer, if you care."
Because public schools are the ones teaching children propaganda, not the fringe lunatics walling themselves off from the rest of society and producing all their own media.
What's Beck's utopia gonna cost? Around $2 billion. Beck says he's willing to take steps to make his vision happen "one piece at a time."
The man is truly a megalomaniac. Remember, his only qualifications for running a perfect society is that he once hosted a morning zoo radio program.

You can watch Beck announce his plans here.

"A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true." --Demosthenes

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool." --Richard P. Feynman

"Face facts with dignity." --found inside a fortune cookie

So.... He's so buglovin crazy that he's copying the Christian Exodus movement.

I should be shocked. But I have seen this before.

Is anyone else thinking of Jonestown?

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

No longer on Faux News glen beck is a clown without a circus, hysterically seeking attention.

Someone should create a libertarian society somewhere, just so we can all watch it inevitably fail and then people might shut up about Libertarianism. Although an example this small might be the only case where it could actually work.

I guess you missed the news six months ago (or so) when some libertarians bought an island off California with the intent of turning it into a libertarian paradise. I'd go looking for the articles (there were lots of them), but am pressed for time right now.
