There seem to be several odd problems I've noticed with the SFN home or front page regarding the "Newest Posts in our Skeptic Forums" section. Whereas before, there would be, I think, the 5 most recently active threads there are now fewer. This seems to correspond directly to the "Active Topics" link.

Second, there is a problem in the report of the "# reply(s)" section. I see consistently that this thread has 7 replies, even though in reality it is on its second page, and so has more than 15!!

As of writing this, I read "30 reply(s)"

I always saw the five most-recent threads listed on the homepage. Five. Now there are seven. "Active Topics" is showing (for me) about 12.

And the homepage agrees with "Active Topics" that there are 30 replies to the SG thread.

Earlier, like Cune there was a time I spotted only 2 posts on the main page. Now, like Dave, I got 7.

I wasn't able to confirm the thing about number of replies.

Screen shots would be a good idea if you ever see a problem like this in the future.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Well now it seems to be back to normal. And Ricky-- what is this "screen shots" thing about which you speak? This wouldn't require me to have some basic knowledge of advanced technology, would it? Because if so, !

Cune, you simply take your digital camera and take a picture of your screen. I use my mobile phone, but I only have 1024*768 pixels on the phone camera, so I can never get the full screen...

Well Mab, you just need to stand further away when you take th pic. Anyway, that's way to complicated. Much easier to just put your monitor face down on a photocopier.

Seriously, on a windows box, pressing (Alt) and then (Print Screen) will take an image of the current application and put it on your clipboard.

From there, you can paste it into your're favourite image handling program, be it Paint, GIMP, Photoshop or whaetever takes your fancy. If you want to post it to SFN, you'll probably want to host it some where on the goold old interweb. photobucket or imageshack will do the trick nicely. Cropping and resizing first would also be nice, if you can manage it. Shift + printscreen gets the whole desktop, even on multiple monitor systems, rather than just the active dialog.

If you're using a Mac, the procedure is much the same. If you're using Linux, you probably don't need my help, but it's still much the same.

John's just this guy, you know.

It does not work well, here I am trying it!

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

At almost 4pm EST, only one thread on the home page appeared for me. There was nothing more even if you scrolled all the way down.

Even if I don't have a screen shot, that happened to me, too. Now things look back to normal, though.
