Woohoo! Our favorite "mere" grad student hero of science not only took on the best "scientist" the ID Creationists have, her core argument also got him to admit he was wrong, 105 days later. (Though he arrogantly only admitted so when prodded by another established male academic, the redoubtable Dr. Ian Musgrave of Australia.)

So Michael Behe now admits that HIV has evolved new receptor sites. But he says he agrees with Ian's "core argument," as though it weren't Abbie's. Can't give an inch to females, or grad students, even if they (unlike yourself) are doing real science. Arrogant, sexist bastard.

No wonder Behe delayed the inevitable fessing up for so long.

Meanwhile, and to his immense credit as a scholar, a gentleman, and as a scientist, Ian Musgrave has made it clear that the "core argument" was not his own, but Abbie's. And he has asked/demanded that Behe apologize to Abbie for both his sexism and the contempt he showed to a student scientist.

Maybe my cartoon helped? Naw, guess not:

But maybe Behe felt a little silly with things like this going around. Probably not, but I wish.
