The flaw in his argument is simple to spot.

He assumes that people are reasonable.

Most of the deniers out there won't admit to uncertainty, so I don't expect a risk analysis of worst case scenarios to sway them. Nor will it sway those who have significant financial ties/investment in the current energy structure.

Yeah, this isn't new-- lots of people (myself included) have made this argument, or some version thereof. But as Dude hinted, deniers-- most of them, anyhow-- do so for reasons that are completely outside of the debate. They have an irrational hatred of government, of regulation, and of international cooperation. This is even mixed in in some crazy way with Christian eschatology, where the Anti-Christ runs some one world government.

So this rational appeal won't work, regardless of how sound it is.
