According to :Maledoro, the damn thing made back a third of it's cost in the first weekend
Don't forget this film had at least a 7Mil$ marketing budget in addition to the 2mil cost.
It got $3 mil of it back on the opening weekend. I can't believe that it debuted 10th place in receipts.

Friday's opening was its biggest day, with Saturday and Sunday showing steadily decreasing attendance. I suspect next weekend will be worse, as word-of-mouth seems to be working in a negative direction for Expelled. With its sorry numbers, it will probably soon loose many of its 1000-plus screens, and numbers will plummet even more.
(Also, how many of the tickets handed to ushers were freebies, sent by the Expelled promoters to fundy churches? Each of those should be subtracted from the sales.)
I doubt these people are going to break even.
