YouTube Vid of a half dozen US congressmen who won't answer yes/no to this question: Was Obama born in the US?

Fucking pathetic.

HuffPo article where I found the vid.

Is this an acknowledgment by the Republicans that their base really has a lunatic fringe that they are duty bound to represent? Or that they can't spare a vote, no matter how crazy the voter is? Or is it that they really are crazy themselves? (Of course, some of them are, but we knew that already.)

It's great to know that our country is in such good hands...

Yeah, that pretty much covers it. The lunatics have taken over the asylum and the morons are trying to own the schools. Often, they are one and the same.

58% of republicans don't think Obama is a natural born US citizen!

Not as remarkable as it might seem. After all, these are the nice folks who gave us Nixon & Agnew, Reagan & Bush, Bush & Quayle, the other, dumber Bush and his Swine, and Sarah Palin, to name a mere handful of incompent and outright dishonest dolts foisted upon the public by Republicans. Hey, how smart can they be?

Edit: Heh, on a related matter:
Right wing Christian says Jesus hinted at name of Anti-Christ: Barack Obama
But we all knew this was coming, didn't we?

Further edit: Is there no depth too low that these scum-suckers won't sink to it?
Right-Wing Harassment Strategy Against Dems Detailed In Memo: ‘Yell,' ‘Stand Up And Shout Out,' ‘Rattle Him'
This morning, Politico reported that Democratic members of Congress are increasingly being harassed by “angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior” at local town halls. For example, in one incident, right-wing protesters surrounded Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) and forced police officers to have to escort him to his car for safety.

This growing phenomenon is often marked by violence and absurdity. Recently, right-wing demonstrators hung Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) in effigy outside of his office. Missing from the reporting of these stories is the fact that much of these protests are coordinated by public relations firms and lobbyists who have a stake in opposing President Obama's reforms.

The lobbyist-run groups Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks, which orchestrated the anti-Obama tea parties earlier this year, are now pursuing an aggressive strategy to create an image of mass public opposition to health care and clean energy reform. A leaked memo from Bob MacGuffie, a volunteer with the FreedomWorks website Tea Party Patriots, details how members should be infiltrating town halls and harassing Democratic members of Congress:

What a bag of stale douche this skank is!
Birther leader compares US media to Nazi ‘brownshirts'

The attorney behind this weekend's release of President Barack Obama's “Kenyan birth certificate” called the US media “Obama's brownshirts” during an acrimonious interview on MSNBC's News Live Monday.

Hosts David Shuster and Tamron Hall interviewed Orly Taitz, the de facto leader of the birther movement who is asserting that a document from Kenya, purportedly printed in 1964, three years after Obama's birth, is the president's true birth certificate.

At the start of the segment, Shuster presented copies of Barack Obama's birth announcements in the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin, from August of 1961.

“How could these birth announcements have been fabricated 48 years before President Obama took office?” Shuster asked Taitz. “How would they have the foresight to do that?”

Instead of answering the question, Taitz launched into a tirade against the US media, saying: “We're sick of the lies coming from the mainstream media. Eighty-five percent of American citizens are saying Obama was not vetted, he needs to be vetted, he needs to provide original birth certificate.”
How very typical. The skank has no argument other than outright and obvious frabracations and so must cast the red herring in the hope that if she does it loudly enough, everybody will run to smell of it; and where have we seen that before?

And then comes the sweet ad hominem: "You media assholes are all a bunch of fuckin' Nazis!" Paraphrasing a bit there but that's what it sugars off to, and it proves Godwin's Law irrevocably.

Y'know what; I blame it on the media. If they refused to give these whackaloonies a platform and a microphone, we woludn't have to deal with them. They could go back to ranting on the street corners between dumpster-diving expeditions where they belong. At least until someone throws a court-ordered net over them and hauls them off to the cackle factory for a nice, quiet rest.

Yeesh!

Dobbs responds to "Swift Boat of the left" Media Matters' birther ad: "This is just really extraordinary"

The media has been going after Lou Dobbs for his continued pushing of the "birther" thing.

Media matters is going to be running ads, starting today, attacking Dobbs and CNN's defense of his relentless stupidity.

CNN is refusing to run the ads.

Some more background on the Dobbs story:

Meet Jon Klein, Lou Dobbs' apologist-in-chief

There is a lot more on Dobbs including that even the right is running from him...

I've only been casually following it, but it looks like it's getting good. Really, Dobbs, like Beck et al. at FOX, is no more than a conservative, corporate whore. How they manage to keep any audience at all is a question for the gods, for no mortal can answer it.

Heh, it's most pleasant to read of the hog-slaughter squeals they make when they get hit back from from Media Matters or someone else. Why is it that the loudest demagogues have the thinnest skins? Or is that another question for the gods, eh?

At any rate, it's getting fun to watch, and I figger that as soon as advertising money begins to dry up, they'll shut up. That's how media prostitution works.

Lou Dobbs' position is the most tricksy and cynical of all. For the record, Dobbs wants to be on the side of reality, by having said "I believe Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States," but he still continues to attack with "I don't understand why he doesn't just produce his long-form birth certificate and be done with it."

The facts as I know them are: Even Barack Obama himself possesses no "long-form" birth certificate that he could produce. The only "long-form" is the original form properly held securely (not given out to either Presidents nor to Birther nuts) in the archive of the state of Hawaii. The certified copy is just what any of us get when we need to fully prove the details of our birth. I have a couple of copies of very similar forms, myself. This certified copy is fully legal. In addition, there are the two newspapers which ran birth notice when Obama was born. Without a time machine, it would be impossible for any conspiracy to retroactively insert those notices. These birth notices are far more conclusive than even a "long-form" birth certificate would be.

Dobbs simply wants to keep this Birther thing alive, in the most cowardly manner. He admits he has no doubt of the President's birth, but still wants to stir up the lunatics. Screw Dobbs.

I don't think that there can be any doubt that Obama was indeed born. From the records produced, I don't think there can be any doubt that he was born in the Land of the Delightful Hula, either. That just leaves a single option, one that the birther pud-pullers will never admit to, even under the threat of water-boarding: A black man was duly and legally elected President of the United States, and they just can't freakin' stand it!

Fuck the birthers. The best we can hope for from them is that the next time they fart, their heads will reappear.

Ah, that picture takes me back. It did more damage to McCain than it did to Obama, and I suspect the same holds true with the birther idiocy. People are getting sick of hearing it, and few are fooled by it. Except here in the South, I'm told, and I won't vouch for the truth of that either, if only because NC went for Obama.

I also suspect, loud, semi-coherent claims to the contrary, Lou Dobbs and the rest do what the hell they're told. Nobody in their right mind would give these wankers free rein.

But a wanker that does have free rein, mostly anyway, is this one:
(March 17) -- Over the past few weeks, the White House has been casting right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh as the head of the Republican Party, and based on a new CBS News poll, it appears they may be onto something. According to the poll, Limbaugh's favorable rating stands at just 19 percent, a full 43 points lower than President Barack Obama's.
This is some 4 months out of date, but not much seems altered.

The times they are a'changin' and the pendulum swings like a pendulum do -- I can't believe I wrote that!
